Cosplay Competition

When are applications open until?

Online applications will close on Friday 14th August or when spaces fill up.

Applying online guarantees you a space in the competition and allows you to provide the music you walk on stage to.

There will be space for some on the day signups however these spaces will be limited and you will not be able to provide any music to walk on stage to - this will be chosen for you.

On the day signups will close at 13:00 on Saturday 22nd August.

When is the cosplay competition?

Saturday 22nd August: 17:00 - 18:00

What room will the competition be in?

The Park Suite

How will things work on the day?

Please arrive at the Park Suite entrance 15 minutes before the cosplay competition is due to start (16:45).

A member of staff will greet you and confirm your attendance, you will then be placed in a line with other contestants in the order you will be going on stage.

If you are running late please contact us via email or social media. If your attendance is not confirmed before the Cosplay Competition starts you may be removed from the running order.

What do you mean by Handmade and Bought categories?

Entries will be split into Handmade and Bought categories, and there will be winners in both categories.

Cosplays for the handmade category must be mostly handmade, this can include clothes with significant alternations made to them.

If you are unsure about what category your cosplay would be in, please ask!

What are the rules for weapons?

Real weapons are strictly prohibited at RakuCon.

Please make sure your prop is no longer than 1.5 meters and if carrying them through public please conceal the prop to not cause alarm to the general public.

Please make sure your weapon is made of either wood, soft materials or resin and is not a realistic imitation.

How long can I be on stage for?

The maximum amount of time on stage is 2 minutes.

What can I do on stage?

You can do a small dance, poses or just a walk on stage, it’s up to you!

Can I send over background music?

Of course! Once your application is accepted we’ll ask if you want to send over any background music. Alternatively, you can send a link to your music choice via the application form.

The prizes for this year's cosplay competition are listed below. Any additions for this year’s competition are TBC.
